2.2 Scope of Work
The soil borings will be performed by V&W Drilling of Rio Vista, CA (C57 #658786)
Boreholes will be drilled by both hand auger and hollow stem drilling methods The proposed
hand auguring activities inside the shop and the inaccessible points were the drilling rig will not
be able to gain entry, will be drilled by Del-Tech under the supervision of V&W The
leted V &ll Drilling
installation of the monitoring wells and drilled soil borings will be comp -
They will use a truck mounted hollow stem auger drilling rig to complete thhee installation The
subsurface geologic investigation and logging of the soil borings will be completed by Tim
McDonald of Geological Technics
All of the stated tasks will be supervised by Ray Kablanow, PhD, R G #5234 of Geological
Technics Modesto, California All of the cuttings produced from this event will be placed on
6 mil plastic, covered and stored on site until analytical results have been received Soil
screening with a photo ionization detector will be performed to monitor the presence of volatile
aromatics during the auguring of the hand borings and a discrete soil sample will be collected
for laboratory quantification at the interval showing substantial signs of petroleum hydrocarbons
During all the drilling activities a discrete sample will be collected at five foot intervals These
soil samples will be logged for their geological characteristics.
At a minimum two discrete soil samples will be collected from each soil boring from appropriate
horizons representing the vertical geologic strata and by field indications of contamination One
sample from the vadose zone and one at the capillary fringe Each of the samples will be
collected with a driven tube sampler utilizing a new, clean 2" x 6" brass sample tube The brass
tubes containing the soil samples will be sealed with teflon tape, clean plastic end caps, duct tape,
labeled and placed in a chilled ice chest To ensure sample integrity all drilling equipment and
the drive sampler will be decontaminated with a steam cleaner between each sample point A
sample Chain-of-Custody (COC) will be initiated and all samples will be labeled and entered into
the (COC) at the time of collection The samples will be placed into a ice chest with ice or blue
ice to maintain a level of 4 degrees celsius while in transit to the laboratory Samples submitted
to Sherwood Analytical Laboratory in Hilmar, California, DHS Certification #1400 will be
requested to be analyzed for TPH- Gasoline, TPH- Diesel & B T X E (EPA Method 8015 Mod
0 4
