2.2 Scope of Work
The soil borings will be performed by V&W Dnlling of Rio Vista, CA (C57 #658786)
Boreholes will be drilled by both hand auger and hollow stem drilling methods The proposed
hand auguring activities inside the shop and the unassessable points were the dnlling rig will not
be able to gain entry, will be drilled by Del-Tech under the supervision of V&W The
installation of the monitoring wells and drilled soil borings will be completed by V & W Drilling
They will use a truck mounted hollow stem auger drilling rig to complete the installation The
subsurtace geologic investigation and logging of the soil borings will be completed by Tim
McDonald of Geolgical Technics
All of the stated tasks will be supervised by Ray Kablanow, PhD, R G #5234 of Geological
Technics Modesto, California All of the cuttings produced from this event will be placed in
D O T 17 Steel drums and stored on site until analytical results have been received Soil
screening with a photo ionization detector will be performed to monitor the presence of volatile
aromatics during the auguring of the hand bonngs and a discrete soil sample will be collected
. for laboratory quantification at the interval showing substantial signs of petroleum hydrocarbons
These soil samples will also be logged for their geological characteristics
A minimum of two discrete samples will be collected from each soil hand boring from
appropriate horizons representing the vertical geologic strata and by field indications of
contamination One sample from the vadose zone and one at the capillary fringe or ten vertical
feet whichever one comes first Each of the samples will be collected with a driven tube sampler
utilizing a new clean 2" x 6" brass sample tube Samples submitted to the laboratory will be
requested to be analyzed for TPH- Gasoline, TPH- Diesel & B T X E (EPA Method 8015 Mod
1 8020) To ensure sample integrity all drilling equipment and the drive sampler will be
decontaminated with a steam cleaner between each sample point The brass tubes containing the
soil samples will be sealed with teflon tape, clean plastic end caps, duct tape, labeled and placed
in a chilled ice chest with a Chain-of-Custody and transported to Sherwood Analytical Laboratory
in Hilmar, California, DHS Certification #1400 Samples submitted to the laboratory will be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbon products (in the gasoline range) by moditned EPA
Method 8015, minimum detection limit 1 mg/kg and Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene, Total
Xylene EPA Method 8020, minimum detection limit 3 ug/kg
4
r
