LEARWAE.R-
t
.r5..
G R O U P, I Nr
Environmental Services
I
r
Mrs. Stella Ruiz July.21, 1999 f
4491 West Durham Ferry Road
Tracy,CA 95376
Re: Ruiz Grocery,4491 West Durham Ferry Road,Tracy,CA
i
` Dear Mrs.Ruiz, .
t
Enclosed please find a copy of Clearwater Group, Inc.'s (Clearwater's) Groundwater and Remediation System
Operation Monitoring Report Second Quarter 1999 for your site. Copies of the report have been distributed to
j
the agencies listed below. i
1 The remediation system has been successful at removing gasoline contaminants from the subsurface and greatly
reducing groundwater contamination. Results of recent water sampling indicate that groundwater contamination
5 is down by two orders of magnitude since remediation system start-up. Further, the system has recovered a total
of 7,344 lbs (1,204 gal) of,gasoline hydrocarbons from the subsurface, However, recent system, monitoring
results show that contaminant recovery rates have dropped off.appreciably since May 1999. This indicates that ;
the system is nearing its effective limit at recovering contamination from the ground. If these trends continue
over the next several months, system shut-down will be warranted. This timing may be appropriate, as costs for
system operation are pre-approved through the end of September 1999 by the Underground Storage Tank Clean-
up Fund. Following system shut-down,it is likely groundwater will be monitored for a limited period of time
thereafter to verify site clean-up for regulatory closure.
If you have any questions about the project or scheduling, please feel free to'call either myself or Mr. Henry
Hurkmans at(5 10) 893-5160.
5
Sincerely,
Clearwater Group, Inc.
r -
Brian Gwinn, R.G.
Senior Geologist
enclosure
CC'.
