Durham Ferry Road
r
Tracy, CA 95376
San Joaquin County Pubiic Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD)
has reviewed the most recent data from the catalytic oxidizer soil vapor extraction (SVE)
system currently operating at the above referenced site, and the most recent
groundwater analytical results from the site, and has the following comments.
The SVE system has been in operation at this site.for approximately one year. Monthly
air sample analysis has shown a marked decrease in the influent contaminant
concentration for the past four months, from over,
t3000 parts per million (ppm) total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gas (TPHg) to 28 ppm TPHg. Quarterly groundwater
sample analysis has also shown a significant decrease in the levels of contaminant
concentrations detected in both MW-1 and MW-2.
' It is the recommendation of Clearwater Group, Inc. (CCI), the consultants for this site,
that the SVE system has reached a plateau in its.ability to recover contamination and
should be removed. PHSIEHD concurs with this recommendation.
In conversation with CCI it was discussed that following the removal of the SVE system,
the site will be allowed to equilibrate for a period of,-2-3 quarters of continued
groundwater monitoring and sampling. After that time the available data will be reviewed
and a decision will be made as to the need for further remediation at this site. All wells,
` piping and manifolds will remain on site. Confirmation soil borings will be required
following the completion of all remediation and prior to review of the site for closure:
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan'at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, REHS MargaretLagorio, RENS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Maroc List, CVRWQCB
Brian Gwinn, CCI
f
{'.
