CEARWATER
[ l (1 L P I \ C
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of groundwater monitoring performed by
Clearwater Group, Inc (Clearwater) on March 7, 1995 at 4491 West Durham Ferry
Road in Tracy, California The location of the site is shown on Figure 1 The tasks
performed during this phase of work included groundwater gauging, well purging
and groundwater sample collection
2.0 BACKGROUND
The site is currently occupied by a grocery store, which formerly stored and
dispensed motor fuel from underground storage tanks located beneath the
southwestern corner of the property A site assessment was initiated several years
ago, with the most recent phase of investigative activity consisting of the drilling of
several soil borings, the collection of discrete water samples from the borings, and
the construction of several groundwater monitoring wells and three vapor
extraction wells The results of these activities have been presented in reports
prepared by Delta Environmental Consultants and RESNA
3.0 HZID AC=.LTIES
All field work was conducted according to Clearwater Field Procedures (previously
submitted) which are consistent with both local and state guidelines Prior to
sampling, each monitoring well was inspected for the presence of separate-phase
hydrocarbons (SPH) and gauged to the nearest hundredth of a foot. The depth to
groundwater was measured from the survey mark on top of each well casing. The
wells that did not contain SPH were then purged of at least three well casing
volumes until purging parameters stabilized or until the well went dry Monitoring
well purge/sample data sheets are included as Appendix B
Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells Each groundwater
sample was collected with a dedicated polyethylene bailer and was transferred to
sample containers appropriate for the required analyses. Sample containers were
labeled and placed in a cooler. A chain-of-custody was prepared and accompanied
the samples to the laboratory Groundwater sample analysis was performed by
PACE, Inc , DHS-certified laboratory located in Novato, California All groundwater
samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA
Method 8015 (CA LUFT modified), and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020 (CA LUFT modified)
D-107 QMR 1 4/21/95
1
