f
r
l
Mr. Harlin Knoll, SJCEHD June 18, 2007
Well Installation Work Plan
A.Teichert and Sons Property, Stockton,CA
Page 2
the warehouse are paved with concrete, and a steam cleaning station is situated in the
southwestern corner of the site. Gasoline, diesel fuel, and waste oil were formerly stored
in underground storage tanks (USTs) at the site. All USTs and associated fuel dispensers
were removed from the property between 1986 and 1999. Approximate locations of the
former and existing facilities are shown on Figure 2.
BACKGROUND
Assessment of petroleum hydrocarbon impact was initiated in December 1986, following
the removal of select site USTs in October 1986. The following subsections summarize
f historical activities completed at the site, and information regarding site geology and
hydrogeology, remediation activities at the property, and remaining impact in the site
vicinity.
Historical Summary
• Two fuel tanks failed a tightness test in February 1986. Triangle Construction
(Triangle) removed these two 5,000-gallon gasoline USTs (Tanks A and B,
Figure 2) and a 1,000-gallon waste oil UST (Tank C) in October 1986.
• J.H. Kleinfelder and Associates (Kleinfelder) advanced soil borings B-1 through
B-5 to approximately 35 feet below ground surface (bgs) in December 1986.
• Kleinfelder advanced borings B-6 through B-16 in January 1987. Three of the
borings were converted to groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3).
• L.B.M.E. Corporation (LBME) installed wells MW-4 and MW-5 in September
1987. Well MW-2 was properly destroyed to accommodate.planned remedial
excavation activities.'
• LBME excavated hydrocarbon-impacted soil and collected confirmation soil
samples from the pit in September 1987. The resulting pit was 47 feet by 25 feet,
by 38 feet deep (refer to Figure 2).
• Elder Engineering (Elder) removed one 10,000-gallon gasoline UST (Tank D) in
June 1988. Compliance soil samples were collected by LBME.
• Triangle installed one new 12,000-gallon double-walled gasoline UST and one
1,000-gallon double-walled waste oil UST in August 1988. i
• LBME installed monitoring wells MW-9, MW-10, and MW-11, in March 1990. 1
• EMCON Associates (EMCON) advanced boring B92-1 and installed wells
MW 12 and MW-13 in August 1992.
• EMCON performed a soil vapor extraction (SVE) test using well MW-13 and the
existing vapor extraction grid in October 1992.
K:1TeichertlStockton-10Mork Planslteichcrt-well install work plan 06-2007.doc 57Ri47U$
