AM
P+
p. Taichert & Son
Soils and Groundwater Assessment
103 N. E, Street
Stcuktcn, CA
This Report reviews pricy, findings Dy J.h. Kleinfelder & Associates
1987, and LEM-E Corporation dated December
in Report dated April 3,
12, 1987, and finding of this investigation relating to soils and
groundwater contamination of this site.
IntroIl
The property being investigated is bound on the east by North E
Street, on the north by the Railroad, on the west by "p" Street
and the south by Weber Avenue. The property is used as a
construction yard for storage and maintenance of equipment and as
in the last 30 or more
a fueling site. The use has not changed
years. Prior to Teichert acquiring the site, it was used as an
mm• asphalt hot mix plant.
i
,.
The subject site is located at 103 North "E" Street in Stockton.
- It is bound by Weber Street on the south, "E" street on the east,
the railroad on the north and "D" Street and the extension thereof
.'J on the west. Two..underground-gasoline tanks and one.waste oil tank ,
were removed in the Fall of 1986. one -additional underground tank
µy was removed in the `Summer of 1988.
The fuel leak occurred on the property prior to the Fall of 1986:
J.A. Kleinfelder and Associates prepared a Report of soil and
Groundwater Assessment, dated April 27, 1987, on th6 site. The
^ F.eport stated the results of eleven soil borings of which ,three
were completed as monitor-wells. Forty-:. :ur soil samples and three
- groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons
and 'aromatic hydrocarbons (BTX) . The conclusion was that
approx+.mately 10oo cu.yd. of soil had been affected by leaking
or associated piping and that approximately 1700 gallons of
tanks
gasoline had. leaked to surrounding soils.
The contamination seems to be more associated with piping on the
two tanks removed in the Fall of 1986. There was minor
contamination around the fill of the tank removed in the Summer of
1988. This soil' was'removed and remediated at that time..
Excavation and aeration of contaminated soils (1000± cu.yd. )28 fee
September 15, 1987, using a backhoe capable of reaching 28 feet
__ ---
deep-.------The--- east--and west -end—af__th9--area---was excavated an
additional. 10 feet to permit excavation of contaminated soils to -
Page 1
