of this recommendation, EMCON Associates and Teichert recognize that
' monitoring of (1) the zone of influence, (2) mass of petroleum hydrocarbons
removed, and (3) concentration of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in
ground water will be warranted. Based on the result of this monitoring, SVE
system effectiveness will be evaluated, and the need for an additional SVE
well installed near well MW-13 will be assessed.
6.2 Ground Water
Based on the recent ground-water analytical data from wells MW-10,
' MW-11, ME-12, and MW-13 (see Table 3), ground water beneath the
location of the former tank location has been impacted with petroleum
hydrocarbons. Based on the absence of detectable concentrations of
' petroleum hydrocarbons in the ground-water sample from downgradient
well MW-12, EMCON Associates believes that the petroleum hydrocarbon
plume has not migrated off site. Because the petroleum hydrocarbon plume
' has not migrated off site, and EMCON Associates is proposing to remediate
the soil at the site using SVE, EMCON Associates is recommending indirect
remediation of the ground water. Reasons for this recommendation are
discussed in Section 7, Proposed Corrective Action.
1
1
pjO\Of9O\Of900020.1 ag 6 - 3 Rev. 0 December 15, 1992
