10 PROPOSED CLEANUP N P OBJECTIVES
'
Two cleanup objectives are proposed for the remediation. The first
' objective is to reduce the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the soil
to below that which would represent a continuing threat to impact underlying
ground water. The cleanup level for the petroleum compounds detected will
' be developed using a cost-benefit analysis.
Based on the cost-benefit analysis results, selected samples from
exploratory soil borings drilled to first-encountered ground water will be
' analyzed to verify the level of soil remediation. The verification samples will
be analyzed for TPHG, TPHG, and BTEX.
Before the exploratory soil borings are drilled and sampled, EMCON
Associates will prepare for regulatory review and comment, a work plan
describing the location and rationale for the exploratory soil boring locations.
' Also included in the work plan will be a description of the drilling and
sampling methods and the rationale for selecting the soil samples for
chemical analysis.
The second cleanup objective will be to reduce petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations in the ground water to below detectable concentrations. The
' level of ground-water remediation will be verified by the analytical results
from the quarterly monitoring. The feasibility of this second objective may
be re-evaluated later during the course of remediation implementation.
I,
i
15 1992
' pjOlOf9010f900020.1 ag 10 - 1 Rev. 0 December ,
