' 9 EVALUATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION
EFFECTIVENESS
1
To evaluate the effectiveness of the remediation system, EMCON
Associates will monitor the system during its operation. This monitoring will
include collecting and analyzing soil vapor and GAC effluent samples on a
' weekly basis during the first month of operation and on a monthly basis
thereafter.
By evaluating the sample analyses results and additional operational data,
' EMCON Associates will be able to calculate information such as destruction
efficiency, petroleum hydrocarbon removal rates, and total mass of
petroleum hydrocarbons removed over time.
' In addition, during the first quarter of the system's operation, EMCON
Associates will evaluate the effectiveness of using the existing vacuum
' gallery for SVE. If using the existing vacuum gallery is deemed inefficient
for removing soil vapors in a timely manner or if it is not effective in drawing
vapors from a sufficient depth, installation of a soil vapor extraction well
may be warranted.
1 - I
1
i
1
i
' pj O\Of9O\Of 9 00 020.1 ag 9 - 1 Rev. 0 December 15, 1992
