• 3 0 SITE CHARACTERIZATION ACTIVITIES <br /> Assessment of petroleum hydrocarbon impact was initiated in December 1986 following the <br /> removal of select site USTs in October 1986 A journal compiled by Teichert personnel <br />' documenting environmental activities completed at the site between February 1986 and <br /> November 2000 is presented in Appendix A <br /> 31 Historical Summary <br /> • Two fuel tanks failed a tightness test in February 1986 Triangle Construction (Triangle) <br /> removed these two 5,000-gallon gasoline USTs (Tanks A and B, Figure 2) and a 1,000- <br /> gallon waste oil UST (Tank C) in October 1986 <br /> • J H Kleinfelder and Associates (Kleinfelder) advanced soil borings B-1 through B-5 to <br /> approximately 35 feet bgs in December 1986 <br /> a Kleinfelder advanced of borings B-6 through B-16 in January 1987 Three of the borings <br /> were converted to groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) <br /> • L B M E Corporation (LBME) installed wells MW-4 and MW-5 in September 1987 <br /> Well MW-2 was properly destroyed to accommodate planned remedial excavation <br /> activities <br /> • LBME excavated hydrocarbon-impacted soil and collected confirmation soil samples <br /> from the pit in September 1987 The resulting pit was 47 feet by 25 feet, by 38 feet deep <br /> refer to Figure 2) <br /> • Elder Engineering (Elder) removed one 10,000-gallon gasoline UST (Tank D) in June <br /> 1988 Compliance soil samples were collected by LBME <br /> • Triangle installed one new 12,000-gallon double-walled gasoline UST and one <br />' 1,000-gallon double-walled waste oil UST in August 1988 <br /> • LBME installed monitoring wells MW-9, MW-10, and MW-11, in March 1990 <br />' • EMCON Associates (EMCON) advanced of boring B92-1 and installed wells MW-12 <br /> and MW-13 in August 1992 <br />' • EMCON performed an SVE test using well MW-13 and the existing vapor extraction <br /> grid in October 1992 <br />' • BCR & Associates, Ltd (BCR) directed the installation of well MW-14 in March 1994 <br /> This well was then used to perform an SVE test SVE using well MW-14 was initiated in <br /> December 1994 <br /> • Anderson Consulting Group (Anderson) reconstructed well MW-13 in December 1994 <br /> The well was reconstructed for use as an SVE well SVE using both wells MW-13 and <br /> MW-14 was initiated in January 1995 <br /> 0 EMCON installed air sparge well AS-1 in May 1995 SVE in conjunction with air <br /> . sparging was initiated in June 1995 <br /> K 1Texle&Stockton I031Rep T1,1scm 04 2006 doc Page 5 5TKA TU5 <br />
