Grantline
Tracy, Ca 95736
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)
has reviewed the Quarterly Summary Reports recently submitted by Ground Zero
Analysis, Inc., and has the following comments.
With recent recommendations for sites that pose little or no risk to be closed or not
required to conduct any further investigations, PHS-EHD has some recommendations
that may allow these sites to qualify for evaluation for "No Further Action".
It has been over a year since consecutive quarterly reports have been received for
these sites. One of the analytes of concern at Steve's rentals was the oil and grease
found in the soil. In order to better evaluate the groundwater after the over-excavation
and the long period between consecutive groundwater sampling, oil and grease should
be analyzed in the groundwater as well as a new constituent of concern, Methyl Tertiary
Butyl Ether (MTBE).
Low levels of petroleum still exist in the groundwater at Reeve's Exxon. MTBE should
also be analyzed for in the next groundwater sampling event for this site, as well as
TPH as Gasoline and BTEX.
After two consecutive sampling events, for all constituents of concern have been
performed and accepted by PHS-EHD, a closure summary report should be submitted
to PHS-EHD for review. Please follow the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board's Appendix B format for the closure report.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
