(Ground Zero) requests authorization to discharge
approximately 400 gallons of groundwater into the sanitary sewer system at 2360 East Street,
Tracy, California. The groundwater was produced during purging of three groundwater
monitoring wells at the site under the direction of San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) as part of a groundwater investigation.
The proposed point of discharge for the purged water is the sewer cleanout or toilet facility in
the existing building, shown on the attached figure. The water is currently stored in an above
ground tank located within the property boundaries. A water sample was collected from the tank
on June 13, 1996 and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) and
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX). No TPHG or BTEX was detected.
Laboratory reports are attached. No metals analysis was performed because the source of the
groundwater contamination was an observed release of unleaded gasoline.
Based upon our recent telephone discussion, Ground Zero anticipates receiving written
authorization from your office by July 11, 1996. Please call me at (209) 952-3481 if you have
any questions regarding this request.
Sincerely,
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc.
John P.
