f
• Page 3
Grab water samples from each boring were acquired within a
clean, disposable polyethylene bailer lowered into the
borehole to a point dust below the surface of the water.
Upon being returned to grade, the contents of each bailer
were transferred into Volatile Organic Analysis (VOA) vials
and one amber glass liter bottle. Each container was
promptly covered with a teflon-lined screw cap, labeled,
and placed in an iced, insulated container for trans-
portation to Priority Environmental Labs under chain of
custody. Subsequent analyses were performed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPH-D) , Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) , benzene, toluene, ethyl -
benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) using EPA Methods 3510/
8015 and 5030/8015-8020 (602) , respectively
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring EP-1
consisted of 6 inches of concrete and gravel underlain by
very moist, light-brown salty clay becoming slightly moist
light-brown silty clay with rust streaks at approximately 3
feet below grounds surface (bgs) . Slightly moist , light
brown silty clay with light-olive colored streaks was
present to 5 feet. Light-olive colored, compacted dense
clay was encountered between 5 and 7 feet bgs . An odor
• consistent with that of fuel hydrocarbons was detectable at
5 feet- becoming intense at 6-7 feet . Silty sand
encountered between 7 and 7 . 5 feet was underlain by a pea
gravel and sand mixture to 8 feet . This mixture was
saturated with dark-colored, malodorous oil . The soil
beneath was fine sand that continued to the bottom of the
bore hole at 9 feet . Groundwater was encountered at
approximately 7 feet .
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring EP-2
consisted of 6 inches of concrete and gravel underlain by
loose, slightly moist sand and gravel to 1 foot bgs .
Slightly moist , light-brown silty clay with rust streaks
was present to approximately 4 feet where the rust streaks
became light-olive colored. Light-olive colored dense clay
containing little moisture was present between 4 . 5 and 6
feet . Moist , dark-colored silty clay with streaks of sand
was present between 6 and 7 feet . Very moist , dark-colored
fine-silty sand was present between 7 and approximately 8 . 5
feet . An odor consistent with that of fuel hydrocarbons as
present in this layer. Fine sand was encountered between
8 . 5 and 9 feet . Groundwater was encountered at approxi-
mately 7 feet .
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring EP-3
consisted of 6 inches of concrete and gravel underlain by
• light-brown silty sand containing little moisture. Silty-
clay containing little moisture was present between 1 and 3
