r
P a g e 4
feet . This was underlain by slightly moist , very light-
brown clay to 6 feet . Slightly moist , light-brown silty
clay containing rust streaks was present between 6 and 7
feet and was underlain by moist , light-olive colored silty
clay between 7 and 8 feet . Dark-grey , saturated, fine
silty sand containing a slight fuel hydrocarbon odor was
present to the bottom of the borehole at 9 feet . Ground-
water was encountered at approximately 7 feet .
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring EP-4
consisted of 6 inches of concrete and gravel underlain by
light-brown, moist silty clay to 3 feet . Light brown clay
containing little moisture was present to approximately 5 . 5
feet . A slight odor, consistent with that of fuel hydro-
carbons was present between 4 . 5 and 5 . 5 feet Light-olive
colored compacted clay was encountered at 5 . 5 feet and
continued to approximately 6 . 75 feet . The hydrocarbon-like
odor was intense in this interval . Dark--grey, fine silty
sand was present between 6 . 75 and the bottom of the boring
at approximately 8 . 5 feet. The hydrocarbon-like odor was
also intense in this interval . Groundwater was encountered
at approximately 7 . 8 feet.
. Certified laboratory analyses of discrete soil and grab
water samples from each of the ten borings advanced on site
revealed the presence of detectable concentrations of fuel
hydrocarbon compounds . The results of these analyses are
summarized in Tables 1 and 2 :
Table 1
Analytical Results of Subsurface Soil Samples Acquired
at 2360 East Street , Tracy, CA
March, 1994
Sample No. TPH-D TPH-G B T E X
and Depth (ppm) (ppm) (ppb)
------------------------------------------------------------
EP-1 @ 5 ' N.D.
