— %an/ kn KLEINFELDER
.L. recorded on Purge Characterization and Sample Logs (Attachment B). Prior to cementing the
borings, depth to groundwater was measured and indicated on the soil boring logs.
9.0 SAMPLE HANDLING AND ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil and groundwater samples collected from borings GP-1 and GP-2 were submitted under
16m chain of custody documentation to Alpha Analytical Inc., a California State-certified laboratory
in Sparks, Nevada. As requested by PHS/EHD, selected soil and groundwater samples were
analyzed for:
V
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as motor oil by DHS/LUFT methods
ry
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline by DHS/LUFT methods
• BTEX, Fuel Oxygenates, EDB, and 1,2 DCA by EPA Method 8260
The samples were analyzed on a 5 to 10 day turnaround schedule. The laboratory results were
below the detection limits for all requested analytes on all the soil and groundwater samples.
Laboratory analytical data sheets and the chain-of-custody documents are attached to this report
(Attachment Q.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The following conclusions and recommendations are based upon field observations, and
laboratory analytical results.
• Analytical results of the soil and groundwater samples collected adjacent to and beneath the
former underground storage tanks were all below the indicated laboratory detection limits.
• Kleinfelder does not recommend further evaluation.
• Kleinfelder recommends that you contact Mr. Jeff Wong at the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services, Environmental Health Division to discuss options for disposal of the
stockpiled soil and backfilling of the former UST cavity.
• A copy of this report should be submitted to Mr. Jeff Wong at the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services, Environmental Health Division for review and comment.
LIMITATIONS
Kleinfelder has prepared this report in accordance with the generally accepted standards of care
which exist in northern California at the time of writing. It should be recognized that definition
and evaluation of geologic and chemical subsurface conditions are difficult. Judgments leading
to conclusions and recommendations are generally made with an incomplete knowledge of the
subsurface and/or historic conditions applicable to the site. The conclusions of this assessment
. are based on field observations and analytical results obtained from soil and water samples
collected from the site. More extensive studies may further reduce the uncertainties associated
L. 20-4489-01-E01/2000L859/2000W035 Page 3 of 5
Copyright 2000 Kleinfelder,Inc. September 14,2000
LN
