1.0 Introduction ,{ <br /> On behalf of SBC (formerly Pacific Bell), Shaw Environmental, Incy. (Shaw) was contracted to <br /> provide environmental c <br /> onsulting services during the removal of one split-wall 15,000-gallon <br /> (10,000-gallon gasoline and 5,000-gallon diesel) underground storage tank (UST) from the SBC <br /> facility located at 2300 East Eight Mile Road Stockton C <br /> ahfornia(Figure 1). SBC's <br /> construction management contractor, Roebbelen Construction, Inc.,{subcontracted Gettler-Ryan, <br /> Inc. (Gettler) to provide and operate equipment to perform the UST`removal. SBC's alliance <br /> architect subcontracted RHL Design(RHL) to provide engineering and permitting services. UST <br /> removal work discussed in this report was completed in compliancc:with local and state <br /> regulatory requirements in August 2003. <br /> E _ <br /> 1.1 Site Description <br /> The SBC property is located in a predomnantly agricultural and commercial area of Stockton, <br /> California. A one-story building housing'offices and storage occu ie <br /> g !� p .�s the northern portion of the <br /> site. A garage and vehicle-wash bay are located adjacent to the southern side of the office <br /> building, and a small shed.is located centrally on the property:,� The remainder of the site is paved <br /> and used for SBC vehicle and equipment parking and storage (Figure 2). <br /> A 1 i <br /> 5 000- allon split-wall UST <br /> g p and associated dispenser island used.to fuel SBC fleet vehicle <br /> P l =� s <br /> was located south of the office building in the south-central <br /> g o'rtion of theproperty- The UST <br /> P <br /> was divided into a 10,000-gallon compartment containing gasoline and a 5,000-gallon <br /> compartment containing diesel fuel. As SBC has decided to no longer operate the fleet fueling <br /> facility, the UST was scheduled.for removal. : <br />` la <br /> 1.2 Permits ,} <br /> l Prior to initiation of excavation activities, R.H.L. obtained a permit for the tank removal from the <br />� San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(SJCEHD) and San <br /> Joaquin County Fire Department(SJCFD). Copies of the SJCEHD and SJCFD permits are <br /> included in Appendix A, in addition to State UST forms.
