WALLACE - KUHL&ASSOCIATES.INC.
December 3, 19%
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Department
Attention: Casey Foley
1601 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, California 95201
3
WORKPLAN FOR SUBSURFACE SOILS EVALUATION
U.S. SPRINT
6855 W. Eight Mile Road
Stockton, California
WKA No. 1004.41
i
Introduction
As requested by Jeff Post of Post Tank, we are submitting this workplan for a subsurface soils
evaluation at the U.S. Sprint property at 6855 W. Eight Mile Road. Previous work on the property
performed by GHH Engineering, Inc. has included soil sampling in the area of the tank and product
line. The five soil samples were tested for TPH and BTX&E; all samples contained non-detectable
concentrations of these compounds (less than 10 mg/kg for TPH and less than 10µg/kg for BTX&E)
with the exception of sample 13,which contained some toluene, xylene and ethyl benzene. Complete
k test results are appended. The purpose of our work is to obtain confirmatory samples=for laboratory
testing of TPH and BTX&E at four of the previously sampled locations shown on Mie 1.
g
g Proposed Scone of Work
The scope of our work will include the drilling and sampling of two soil bo,:n s to a i wdinurn depth
P g
of 20 feet at former locations T1 and T3 shown on Plate 1. Additionally, soil samples''wain be
obtained along the former product piping alignment at a depth of three to five feet (former'tamples
N and P5). The borings will be advanced using a rotary drill rig with hollow-stem Ifugars to a depth
just below the concrete pad encountered at ten feet by GHH Engineering. Soil 0thpift will be
obtained at the base of the borings (10 to 15 foot depth) using a modified Galiforn'ia''sampler
containing two-inch diameter brass tubes, cleaned with trisodium phosphate. The borihgs;will be
terminated immediately after sampling if ground water is encountered. Soil cuttings will be evaluated
3050 iNDUSTRIAL BOULEVARD PO 5Ox 1137 WEST SACRAMENT 0 --A 95691 (916)372-14;34 FAX(916)372-2566
