O . Box 2009
Stockton , CA 95201
Re : Fuel leak , King Island Resort , 11530 W . Eight Mile Road , Stockton , CA
Dear Ms . Hinson :
We recently applied to the County ' s pilot program for oversight of contami -
nation cleanup on our property due to a product line leak ,
Bill Channell of WaterWork has told us that you indicated to him that it
would be May or June until any additional sites are accepted into the
program , This would substantially delay our plans for getting the cleanup
done , which we are ready and willing to do as soon as possible , We had
also planned to replace our old underground tanks with the new leak-moni -
tored and explosive proof above ground tanks , which the Delta Fire Marshall
has been urging us to do . We will also be replacing all underground lines
with double-walled fiberglass piping , We estimate the present underground
tanks on the property could be over thirty years old , and are only of
single wall steel construction , Therefore , there is potential of further
problems if the tanks are not removed in the near future . We are in a
position now to remove these tanks and replace them with tanks which are
environmentally safe ,
In addition , the Reclamation District will be doing levee rehabilitation
sometime this spring . We want to avoid any delay in this work due to our
pollution problem , They are required by FEMA to have their rehabilitation
completed prior to September 10 , 1991 .
There are also several other construction projects planned for the property
near or around the contamination , including a new restaurant and office
building and remodeling of the store .
We would sincerely appreciate any assistance you could give us in expedit -
ing our submission into the pilot program ,
If you have any questions , please call me at (209 ) 951 -2188 . Thank you for
your time .
Sincerely ,
Jo
nne Mabee
ager
cc : Bill Channell , WaterWork
Don McShane , Westrec r © , iVV 4TaECMARINA
