Diane Hinson L (CC
San Joaquin County Public Health Services o 0, J
Environmental Health DivisionP . O . Box 2009 T21 T 9 ,
Stockton , CA 95201
Re : Fuel leak , King Island Resort , 11530 West Eigee Road ,
Stockton , CA
Dear Ms . Hinson :
As you are aware , soil contamination was detected behind King
Island Resort ' s office and restaurant during a geotechnical
I
nvestigation for a new building ( Figure 1 ) .
In an attempt to determine the source and extent of soil
contamination , eighteen shallow hand augured borings were drilled
behind the office ( Figure 2 ) . Figure 2 depicts the approximate
area of soil contamination . The source of contamination appears
to have originated from a product line leak . The leak location was
determined to be between the office and the metal building . The
leak source was removed when the product lines were replaced and
moved above ground in August 1989 .
Because the source of the contamination is from a product line
leak , we are requesting that this site be placed on the pilot
program , so that oversight can be provided . We have contracted
with WaterWork Corporation to perform a subsurface investigation .
WaterWork will be submitting a preliminary report for your review
and approval shortly .
If you have any questions or need more information , please contact
me at your convenience .
You s truly ,
AWnall
 McShane
Vice President , Construction
: cl
L.
