ATC Associates Inc.
1
CVYATC 1117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite 201
Modesko, California 95351209-579-2221
ASSOCIATES INC , fax: 209-579-2225
oxygen , and ORP values will be measured using down-hole probes . As deemed
appropriate , other parameters may be monitored using down-hole probe devices .
Injection Pilot Testing
Injection pilot testing will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of this technology
to remediate dissolved hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates within the saturated zone.
Injection pilot testing will be conducted utilizing one injection well , however if injecting
into that well does not yield suitable data , another well will be selected .
A mobile ozone generator will be connected to the ozone sparging wells to inject ozone
into the saturated zone . Ozone will be injected into each sparge well for approximately
15 to 20 minutes per hour over a period of four weeks at a rate of approximately 2 to 3
cubic feet per minute . This "micro-sparge" approach will provide information to evaluate
the effectiveness of an ozone sparge system (low airflow and low pressure) . The
duration and rate of ozone injection can be adjusted downward or upward as desired .
The sparging wells will alternately be used as observation wells when not being actively
utilized as the ozone injection well . Monitoring parameters will be periodically measured
in nearby monitoring wells during the test.
WORK SCHEDULE
Following receipt of SJCEHD approval of the Workplan , ATC will initiate the project as
soon as possible . ATC will secure an access agreement with the Delta Reclamation
District and prepare a drilling permit. With the submittal of the drilling permit application ,
ATC anticipates that well permitting should take approximately two weeks ; well
installation should take approximately one week. The pilot test is scheduled to take 4
weeks . Soil and groundwater analytical test results should be received within 10 to 15
days of sample delivery . Data interpretation and report preparation are expected to
take five to six weeks. The estimated project schedule does not include allowances for
delays or standby time due to inclement weather, Reclamation District access problems
or other factors beyond the control of ATC .
DATA EVALUATION AND REPORTING
Following receipt of the laboratory analyses of soil and groundwater samples , ATC will
evaluate the information and prepare a summary report. The report will be submitted to
the SJCEHD for review and comment.
KIR 2009 WP for Pilot Testing.doe ATC Associates Inc.
S:\Environmental\62514 — KIR ATC Project No. 54.62514.0001
Page 10
