Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc. <br /> 25 March 2004 <br /> MAR 2 9 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No. 01-0865 \ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Subject: Revised Public Notification Letter- Discharge of Treated Ground Water <br /> HERMAN AND HELEN'S MARINA <br /> 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California <br /> To Whom It May Concern: <br /> On behalf of the owners of Herman and Helen's Marina(HHM), 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, <br /> California and in accordance with Attachment A to the California Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (RWQCB) General Order 5-00-119 For Discharge of Ground Water From Cleanup Of <br /> Petroleum Fuel Pollution To Surface Water, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) is hereby <br /> giving public notification that ground water cleanup activities will commence at the Herman and <br /> Helen's Marina on or before 28 May 2004. The permitting process for Attachment A requires that <br /> a"Public Notification Letter"be submitted to adjacent properties within 500 feet of the site, to the <br /> local County Health Department and to the California Department of Fish and Game. <br /> The property is currently occupied by Herman and Helen's Marina, which consists of multiple <br /> floating structures on the Little Connection Slough, as well as two buildings and a large asphalt <br /> parking lot(Figure 1).Currently,two 12,000-gallon above ground storage tanks are in use at the site. <br /> One tank contains gasoline, the second is compartmentalized into one 5,000-gallon gasoline tank, <br /> one 3,000-gallon gasoline tank,one 3,000-gallon diesel tank and one 1,000-gallon oil tank.The tanks <br /> are connected to dispensers by piping contained in a concrete-lined trench. A site plan depicting <br /> ground water monitoring wells,the ground water extraction well,ground water treatment system and <br /> site boundaries is depicted in Figure 2. <br /> Results of a subsurface investigation at Herman and Helen's Marina indicates that ground water at <br /> the site has been impacted by methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> quantified as gasoline(TPH-g),and low concentrations of dissolved benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene <br /> and xylene(BTEX); in addition,tert-amyl methyl ether(TAME)and tert butanol(TBA)have been <br /> detected during investigation at the site. As required by the California Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board-Central Valley Region's(RWQCB)letters dated 27 May 2003,30 January 2003 and <br /> 18 December 2002, AGE has prepared and submitted Ground Water Extraction Feasibility Test <br /> Report, dated 05 May 2003, and Interim Remediation Work Plan -July 2003, dated 22 July 2003. <br /> As a result of petroleum-impact to soil and ground water at the Herman and Helen's Manna site,the <br /> RWQCB has directed by letter dated 30 December 2003 that a ground water pump and treat interim <br /> 837 Shaw Road,Stockton,California 95215 <br /> Telephone(209)467-1006 FAX(209)467-1118 <br />
