Advanced , ,".AF IITAL HEAL
GeoEnvironmental, Ifics_6 PM I:
02 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0865
Ms. Devra Lewis
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 95827
Subject: Response to Comments
HERMAN& HELEN'S MARINA
15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California
Dear Ms.Lewis:
At the request of Mr. Andrew Smith of Herman&Helen's Marina,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,
Inc. (AGE)has prepared this response to comments in the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board(CVRWQCB)letter dated 11 August 2003.The comments were made in conjunction
with the review of three AGE-prepared technical reports for Herman &Helens Marina located at
15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California.
AGE's response to comments in CVRWQCB letter dated 11 August 2003:
1. The step draw-down pumping test started pumping,at a rate of two gallons per minute, but
does not include a discussion of the rationale for starting this type of pumping test at such
a high rate. H&H Marina needs to provide the rationale for the pumping rates selected for
the step draw-down pumping test.
The test was designed to obtain the maximum pumping rate for the extraction well
EW-1. With the well constructed as a 6-inch diameter, 19 foot well with 15 feet of
0.020 screen installed within peat and fine sand and silt, the extraction rate was
projected to be as high as 8 to 10 gpm. With the well as-built AGE developed a step
schedule of 2 gpm, 4 gpm, 6 gpm and 8 gpm for the step draw-down test.
2. The Report provides some analytical data from the groundwater pumped during the two
pumping tests, but does not provide an estimate for the mass removed during the tests.H&H
Marina must include this information.
Analytical data was only retrieved during the continuous pumping test. This data is
837 Shaw Road,Stockton, California 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006 FAX(209)467-1118
