The Revised Work Plan addresses six of the seven comments in Regional Board staff s 16 July 2003 letter regarding the 19 June 2003 Additional Site Assessment Work Plan (Work Plan). The Work Plan was submitted in response to Regional Board staff s 21 April 2003 letter, which requested a work plan to "delineate the lateral and vertical extent of pollution and to determine the source of pollution near MW-6 as well as the source for the elevated methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) concentrations on site." The Revised Work Plan still proposes only four borings to collect soil and grab groundwater samples. H&H Marina needs to propose a groundwater investigation program and location of monitoring wells that will delineate the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon pollution in both the shallow and deeper water bearing zones. The Revised Work Plan does not include any groundwater samples from the deeper water bearing zone. The following areas still need delineation: • Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline is not defined north of MW-5,west of MW-4, or south of MW-2 in the shallow water bearing zone, is not defined around MW-6 in the deeper water bearing zone, and is not vertically defined beyond 60 feet below ground surface (bgs). • Benzene is not defined in the deeper water bearing zone around MW-6 or vertically beyond 60 feet bgs. • MTBE is not defined north of MW-5, west of MW-4, or south of MW-2 in the shallow water bearing zone. MTBE is discharging into the ditch east of the site. MTBE is not defined in the deeper water bearing zone around MW-6, and is not vertically defined beyond 60 feet bgs.
