(AGE) on behalf of the H & H Marina (H & H)
located at 15135 Eight Mile Road in Stockton (Site). Due to a 2007 purchase, the Site is
currently owned by Bustez Enterprises, Inc. (Bustez) of Stockton, California.
The Letter summarizes remediation activities performed by AGE in response to a gasoline
spill. Laboratory analytical results from quarterly groundwater sampling conducted on
7 September 2007 showed that total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) were
present at 190,000 micrograms per liter (Ng/L) in monitoring well MW-2, the monitoring well
closest to the gasoline aboveground tanks (AGTs). This was the highest concentration ever
found in this well, so AGE returned to the Site on 21 September to take confirmation samples.
AGE observed about three inches of non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) in MW-2 and
discolored, odorous soil in the vicinity of a broken fence surrounding the ALTs. The release of
an unknown quantity of gasoline reportedly occurred as the result of a theft at the AGT. The
release was reported to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
and the State Office of Emergency Services (OES).
Subsequent remediation activities associated with the spill were conducted between
22 September and 5 November 2007, during which time AGE conducted the following
activities:
• removed about 19 gallons of water and 12 inches of NAPL from MW-2,
• excavated about 14.49 tons of contaminated soil from the spill area and backfilled the
excavation,
• pumped about 5,000 gallons of water from the excavation,
• treated the water using the onsite granular activated carbon (GAC) treatment system,
and
• changed out one 2,000-pound GAC vessel to address high concentrations of tertiary
butyl alcohol (TBA) detected in effluent from the GAC.
California Environmental Protection Agency
eA Recycled Paper
