(AGE)has prepared this letter to inform you of a violation of the General Order for Discharge <br /> to Surface Waters of Groundwater from Cleanup of Petroleum Fuel Pollution, Order No. 5-00- <br /> 11938,National Permit Discharge Elimination System(NPDES)No. CAG915001 (General Order) <br /> that occurred during the operation of the ground water extraction system (interim remediation) at <br /> 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California (the site) on 01 November 2006. T-butyl alcohol <br /> (TBA)was reported in the effluent sample collected on 01 November 2006 and reported to AGE on <br /> 14 November 2006. As discussed with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> (CVRWQB-Mr.Negrete)and AGE(Mr.Deicke),the interim remediation system was temporarily <br /> shut down on 14 November 2006 and is scheduled to be re-started on 21 November 2006. <br /> On 01 November 2006,AGE collected water samples from the influent port,the downstream port <br /> of each treatment vessel and the effluent port for: <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015 Modified; <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and the fuel additives methyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), diisopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl-t-butyl ether (ETBE), t-amyl <br /> methyl ether (TAME), and TBA by EPA Method 8260B. <br /> On 14 November 2006, AGE received the analytical results: <br /> • The sample collected from the influent sample (Influent-W) reported TPH-g at a <br /> concentration of 210 micrograms per liter (µg/1), MTBE at 54 µg/1, TBA of 6,500 4g/1, <br /> 837 Shaw Road,Stockton,California 95215 <br /> Telephone(209)467-1006 Fax(209)467-1118 <br />
