29 September 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0865
3.2.2 CPT Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis
Grab ground water samples will be collected in selected intervals of saturated porous and permeable
soil.Except for depth intervals screened by the current monitoring well network, sampling intervals
will be selected based on interpretation of lithologic data from the initial CPT boring with an
objective of sampling significant hydrogeologic units. Ground water sampling procedures are
outlined in section 4.2. Selected ground water samples will be analyzed by a State of California
DHS-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015
Modified; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) fuel additives including methyl
tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA), di-isopropyl ether(RIPE), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME)ethylene dibromide(EDB),
1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),methanol and ethanol by EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports for ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality
control(QA/QC)reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report
with findings and recommendations.
3.3. MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
Damaged monitoring well MW-1 (Figure 2)will be abandoned by over-drilling to total depth and
backfilling with portland cement. The well will be abandoned in accordance with EHD guidelines.
3.4. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
AGE proposes to install four ground water monitoring wells and one replacement groundwater
monitoring well at the site as part of additional site assessment activities. In addition,AGE proposes
to install deep-level monitoring wells at the northernmost and/or southernmost proposed CPT
locations if deep-level CPT grab ground water samples are impacted.
3.4.1. Boring Locations
AGE proposes to install four shallow, water table monitoring wells and one deep-level monitoring
well in the following locations:
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
