Site Background Information: Herman and Helens Marina
Page 9 of 13
MTBE was detected by TCLP in samples B15-14.16, B16-16, B17-11.5 and B17-15
at concentrations ranging from 0.0019 mg/I (1315-14.16) to 0.086 mg/I (1317-11.5).
• HU3: Soil samples B15-26, B16-26, B17-27, MW11-50 and MW11-60 were collected
from HU3. TPH-g and TPH-d were not detected in HU3 samples. The BTEX
compounds toluene and xylenes were detected in sample B15-26 at low
concentrations of 0.013 mg/kg and 0.01 mg/kg, respectively.
• The fuel additive MTBE was detected in samples B15-26 and B17-27 at
concentrations of 0.012 mg/kg and 0.64 mg/kg, respectively; MTBE was detected
by TCLP only in sample B17-27 at a concentration of 0.063 mg/I.
• HU4:Soil samples MW11-70 and MW11-80 were collected from HU3. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in HU4 soil samples.
• No additional analytes were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in the
soil samples analyzed, and none of the analyzed compounds were detected at or
above laboratory detection limits in the soil samples collected from borings MW12
and MW14.
Ground Water Samples
• A total of 15 grab ground water samples from soil borings B14 through B17 and
CPT1 through CPT4 were collected in the hydrogeologic intervals HU1, HU3, HU4,
HU7 and HU8.
• HU1: Grab ground water samples B14 through B17, and CPT4-17 were collected
from HU1. TPH-g was detected in samples B15 through B17, and CPT4-17 at
concentrations ranging from 22,000 micrograms per liter (Ng/1) in sample B16 to
140,000 pg/I in CPT-4-17. TPH-d was detected in samples B15 through B17 at
concentrations ranging from 920 pg/I (1317) to 6,800 pg/I (615). Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in sample B14. BTEX compounds were detected
in all HU1 samples at maximum concentrations of 1,400 pg/I benzene (1316), 2,800
pg/I toluene(B16), 2,200 pg/I ethylbenzene(1315) and 9,400 pg/I total xylenes(1315).
The fuel additive MTBE was detected in samples B15 through B17, and CPT4-17
at concentrations ranging between 5,500 pg/I (1316) and 130,000 pg/I (CPT4-17).
The fuel additive TAME was detected in samples B17 and CPT4-17 at
concentrations of 260 pg/I and 1,800 pg/l, respectively.
• HU3: Grab ground water sample CPT3-61 was collected from HU3. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in sample CPT3-61.
• HU4: Grab ground water samples CPT1-55, CPT3-80 and CPT4-54 were collected
from HU4. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected only in sample CPT3-80. TPH-g
was detected at a concentration of 100 fag/I, and the BTEX compounds were
detected at concentrations of 7.4 pg/I benzene, 14 pg/I toluene and 6.2 pg/I xylenes.
Advanced Geo Environ mental,Inc.
