• 30 July 2003 AGE-NC Project No 01-0865 Page 2of6 in Appendix B Purged water was stored on-site in labeled, 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES A water sample was collected from each purged well using a new disposable plastic bailer or a dedicated hose bailer Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The samples were properly labeled,placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental laboratories (CTEL)a State of California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory Selected samples were analyzed for • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, • Benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B, and a Fuel additives including di-isopropyl ether(RIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 8260B 2 3 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF SURFACE WATER SAMPLES Water samples were collected from the east and west ends of the island drainage channel(IDCE and IDCW)using new disposable bailer(Figure 2) Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The samples were properly labeled,placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to CTEL The samples were analyzed for • TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, • BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 8260B, and • Fuel additives including DIPS,ETBE,MTBE,TAME,TBA,ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 826013 Advanced GeaEnvironmental,Inc
