' Work Plan-Soil and Groundwater Investigation
Herman&Helen's Marina
May 30, 1995
Page-5-
1 A Teflon bailer will be lowered into the sampling chamber and a groundwater sample will be
' collected. The bailer sample will be inspected for free product, petroleum odor, and sheen. The
sample will be gently poured into two (2) 40-m1 glass volatile organic analyses (VOA) vials, and one
' (1) 1-liter amber glass bottle. The sample containers will be sealed, labeled, and placed in a cooler
chilled with Blue Ice for delivery under chain-of-custody procedures to FGL Laboratory, in Stockton,
California for analyses.
3.5 Laboratory Analysis
' The soil and groundwater samples collected for chemical analyses will be analyzed for
benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020 (602 for water), for
total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-G) by Method 8015/Modified 5030, and for
total petroleum hydrocarbons, quantified as diesel (TPH-D) by Method 8015/Modified 3015. The
' analytical methods and analytical detection limits are presented in Table 1, below.
' TABLE 1
Analytical Methods
' CONSTITUENT METHOD DETECTION LIMIT
SOIL
' BTEX 8020 5.0 µg/kg (BTEX)
TPH-G 8015/Modified 5030 1.0 mg/kg (gasoline)
' TPH-D 8015/Modified 3015 1.0 mg/kg (diesel)
GROUNDWATER
' BTEX 602 0.3 µg/1
TPH-G 8015/Modified 5030 0.05 mg/l (gasoline)
' TPH-D 8015/Modified 3015 0.05 mg/l (diesel)
' 3.6 Reporting
A Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report will be prepared for submission to the SJCEHD
' and the CRWQCB. The report will include: (1) a discussion of the site background, (2) a description
of the fieldwork conducted at the site, (3) the laboratory analytical results, (4) a scaled site plan, (5)
' drilling logs, (6) conclusions, and (7) recommendations. The investigation is tentatively scheduled for
Nn
/ CONDOR
