Memorandum
Megan Cambridge
24 July 2000
Page 2
You indicated that DTSC requires the collection of an additional sample at the GW#3 location
to determine the soluble lead concentration present in the underlying groundwater and whether
it could potentially be a source for groundwater quality degradation. Therefore, a grab
groundwater sample will be collected within the vicinity of GW#3. The grab groundwater
sample will be placed in an unpreserved sample container, then filtered by a_State-certified
laboratory and analyzed for total lead. A summary of sampling efforts and analytical results
will be submitted.to you within three weeks of sampling.
Additional Assessment of Surface Water and Sediments and Channel Water Use Impact
Evaluation
You reconfirmed that the City of Stockton can conduct the additional assessment of surface
water and sediments and channel water use impact evaluation(5`h and 7th bullets of condition
of approval Ietter)as part of the separate water quality engineering.study of the channel water
being funded through a U.S. EPA grant.
Supplemental Risk Assessment
As you indicated, the supplemental human health risk assessment(first bullet of condition of
approval letter) may be prepared using the same approach applied in the March 2000 PEA. #
Risk management measures would be developed to address risks, if any, identified in the
supplemental risk assessment. The risk management. measures would be iincluded in the
supplemental risk assessment.
Please contact me if you have any questions of comments. I can be reached either by-telephone at I
(510) 420-8686 or via electronic mail at rhodora@baseline-env.com. It
4
Y0310mem.724.wpd-7/24/00
