For each sample, one 8-ounce glass jar will be collected for each laboratory. The samples will
be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection.
CLPAS Metals. Sediment samples to be analyzed for CLPAS metals and chromium VI will be
homogenized and transferred from the sample-dedicated homogenization pail into 8-ounce,
wide-mouth glass jars. For each sample, one 8-ounce glass jar will be collected for each
laboratory. The samples will be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection. A laboratory to be
determined by EPA will also analyze the sediment samples for Chromium V1. The holding time
for chromium VI in sediment is 6 months.
8.2.3 Wood Samples
Low concentration wood samples to be analyzed for CLPAS semi-volatile organic compounds,
pulverized (if possible) and transferred into 8-ounce, wide-mouth glass jars. No preservative is
required for these samples. The samples will be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection.
8.2.4 Groundwater Samples
Low concentration groundwater samples to be analyzed for CLPAS Pesticides, CLPAS
Semivolatile Organic Compounds will be collected in I-liter amber glass bottles. No preservative
is required for these samples. The samples will be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection.
Two bottles of each groundwater sample are required for each laboratory.
RAP Volatile Organic Compounds plus MTBE and RAP TPH as Gasoline. Low concentration
groundwater samples to be analyzed for RAP volatile organic compounds will be collected in
pre-preserved 40-m1 glass vials containing 1:1 hydrochloric acid (HCl). The vials will be filled
so that no headspace occurs. The samples will be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection.
Three vials of each groundwater sample is required for each laboratory.
CLPAS Metals. Low concentration groundwater samples collected for CLPAS metals analysis
will be collected in 1-liter polyethylene bottles with nitric acid (HNO3). The samples will be
chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection. One bottle of each groundwater sample is required
for each laboratory.
8.2.5 Field Blanks
RAP Volatile Organic Compounds plus MTBE and RAP TPH as Gasoline. Low concentration
trip blanks to be analyzed for volatile organic compounds and TPH as gasoline will be collected
in 40-m1 glass vials pre-preserved with 1:1 hydrochloric acid (HCl). The vials will be filled so
that no headspace occurs. The samples will be chilled to 4°C immediately upon collection.
Three vials of each trip blank are required for each laboratory.
Low concentration groundwater samples to be analyzed for CLPAS Pesticides, CLPAS
Semivolatile Organic Compounds will be collected in 1-liter amber glass bottles.
