s
t
Each wellhead will be equipped with vacuum gauges, a sample port, and
a control valve so that well performance can be monitored and the
flow rate adjusted to maximize .recovery rate. The IC engine is
- capable of drawing up to approximately 150 cfm depending upon soil
.-. conditions. It is estimated that from within the wells, the TPH as
i . gasoline concentrations in vapor will be reduced below 1115 pg/l (250
w, ppmv) within 60 days of operation. The: actual length of IC
operation, as well as the relative flow rates from each well, will be
based on observations and sample or PID/0VA results collected under
operating conditions.
i;
The IC engine will be utilized for the initial extraction period
(anticipated 30 to 60 days) during which vapor concentrations drop
rapidly. After the effluent air stream drops below approximately 10
lbs of hydrocarbons per day, the IC engine will be removed and re-
placed with activated carbon canisters and a vacuum blower to
complete remediation. The selected blower will be capable of
extracting r
R g a pproximately 200 cfm under the site conditions. It is
estimated that the blower/carbon adsorption unit will operate for
approximately 150 to 220 days.
is
mov
The extraction system will be constructed, operated, and monitored in J
accordance with San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District
requirements. System operational monitoring will be at least on a
weekly basis, depending on s&T.ple results. Log books with signed
entries will be maintained recording the following
monitoring/operational data;
Flow rate
i
. 2. Vacuum
3.
