• Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling October 25th
• Groundwater monitoring (depth to groundwater only) November 25th
• Groundwater monitoring (depth to groundwater only) December 23rd
UTILITY SUR -EY/NOTIFICATIOlI
S&B will notify Underground Services Alert (USA/Dig Alert) forty-eight (48) hours before the
scheduled start of the field work. S&B will mark on the ground the location of the proposed
boreholes and will proceed with the drilling only after the borehole location has been inspected
and cleared by the utility representatives.
TAILGATE HEAT.TH AND_SAFETY MEETIN-G
Before the start of field operations, a Tailgate Health and Safety Meeting will be conducted each
day by the Project Manager or Health and Safety Officer to discuss anticipated risks and health
hazards and the proper precautions that need to be observed.
SDIL_B9_RI1IGS
Four geoprobe borings are proposed to be drilled to characterize the subsoil. The boreholes will
be located at the basement of the subject property near the elevator. They will be cored to a
depth of 15 feet below basement level or to groundwater which whichever is encountered first.
The depth to groundwater at the site is reported to be approximately 24 feet below ground surface
(bgs). In the basement, groundwater is reported to be at approximately 14 feet bgs. The location
of the proposed boreholes is shown in the attached Borehole Location Map.
Because of limited access, S&B will utilize a limited access Geoprobe rig. The boreholes will be
cored with a rig equipped with a hydraulic-powered percussion drive sampler. Soil samples will
be obtained with a probing tool lined with three (3) 1-inch diameter by 6-inch long brass tubes.
The probing tool will be pushed or hammered hydraulically into the soil. The bottom brass tube
will be retained for laboratory analysis. The open ends of the retained sample tube will be
covered with Teflon material, capped with plastic end caps, labeled, double-bagged in sealable
plastic bags, entered into a chain-of-custody form and placed on ice in a portable cooler for
delivery to a California DHS-certified laboratory for analysis.
Soil samples will be collected at every five-foot interval, starting at five (5) feet bgs.
A portion of each recovered soil sample will be placed in a sealable plastic bag, disaggregated to
release any volatile petroleum hydrocarbons, allowed to set for a few minutes, and then field
screened using a Photo Ionization Detector (PID). Samples with high PID readings will be
analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons. In the absence of significant PID measurements, selected
representative samples will be analyzed. Soil samples will be examined, described and logged
American Savings Bank Project a 9620-040-1
October 9, 1994 2 Stockton,California
