under the supervision of a California Registered Geologist using the Unified Soil Classification
System (USCS).
All coring and sampling equipment will be cleaned prior to use to prevent cross contamination
between borings. The sampling equipment and brass sample tubes will be cleaned using a solution
of Alconox and tap water, rinsed in tap water and final rinsed with deionized water to prevent
cross contamination between samples. Alconox is a non-phosphate detergent.
After completion of the drilling and sampling, the boreholes will be backfilled with neat cement
to surface grade.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Prior to collecting groundwater samples, the depth to groundwater will be measured in each well.
Groundwater samples will be collected after three well volumes of groundwater have been
removed. This is to ensure that all stagnant water is removed from the area of the well bore, and
that the groundwater sample is representative of in situ conditions. Once the well volumes have
been removed and conditions such as water temperature, turbidity, conductivity and pH are
consistent, a water sample will be collected using a Teflon or stainless steel bailer and transferred
to appropriate containers supplied by the analytical laboratory. There are three wells on the
subject property. Purge water will be stored on-site in 55 gallon drums for proper disposal at the
conclusion of the job.
SOII. AND GROUNDWATER ANALYSIS
Soil and groundwater samples will be sent to BC Laboratories in Bakersfield, California, in a
chilled condition and under a chain-of-custody protocol, at the end of each day. BC Laboratory
is a California DHS-certified laboratory.
Soil samples will be analyzed for the following:
EPA 8015 Extractable 8015/8020 Volatilies
TPH as Diesel/Hydraulic Fluid TPH as gasolineBTEX
American Savings Bank Project b 9620-040-1
October 9, 1994 3 Stockton,California
