. Clayton
l.0 INTR DUCI'TON
Clayton Environmental Consultants, Inc. was retained by American Savings Bank to
perform a subsurface investigation at 222 North El Dorado Street in Stockton,
California (Figure 1). Mr. Allerton F. Blake of American Savings Bank authorized
the project on February 21, 1991, by accepting Clayton's Proposal No. 91-B-024 and
its accompanying terms and conditions.
f'
This investigation followed a Phase I environmental assessment performed by Clayton,
(Project Report No. 33420.00, dated February 7, 1991). Based on the information
gathered in the Phase I, we recommended that the condition of the soil and
l
groundwater be evaluated.
Tasks completed for this phase of the project included:
Ir • Preparation of a work plan and permitting for monitoring well installation
Iq
• Preparation of a health and safety plan
- Installation of one borehole and collection of soil samples
- Installation of one monitoring well and collection of groundwater samples
Laboratory analysis
2.0 .V
The subject site is at the northeastern corner of the intersection of Channel and EI
Dorado Streets in Stockton, California. The onsite building has a basement and two
Hours. The sire measures approximately 16,000 square feet.
At the time of this project, there was a Pacific Bell Telephone office in the basement,
staffed by one maintenance employee. Otherwise the building is unoccupied.
According to the record review that we performed during the initial Phase I
investigation, the site has been used as a bank building since 1961. Two smaller
buildings were visible in the 1952 and 1937 aerial photos.
A regulatury agency review was conducted during the Phase I. We identified several
reported underground tank leak incidents within a 112 mile radius of the site, which
are listed in the following table.
