Clayton
i CMiRI
E
Table 1
Sites with Documented Fuel Leaks
Within a 1/2-Mile Radius of the Subject Site
Distance!
Site Name/Address Gradient Direction
Arco Station #4493 114 mile West
205 North Center Street Upgradient
Stockton, California
Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company 100 feet South
130 North E1 Dorado Street Crossgradient
Stockton, California
Car Repair Shop 200 feet Southwest
Former Shell Gas Station Crossgradient to
14! North El Dorado Street Upgradient
Stockton. California
The car repair shop's upgradient/crossgradient location close to the subject site raised
the possibility that groundwater contamination may have migrated under the site. In
the investigation of the car repair shop site, soil contamination was also noted, in a
sand lens at 16.5 ft below ground surface (bgs). Clayton therefore recommended
installation of a monitoring well to determine if contamination may have migrated
beneath the subject site. This investigation addresses this recommendation.
3.0 FIELD PROCF13ugES
Clayton supervised installation of one monitoring well at the site on April 11, 1991.
Groundwater samples were collected from the monitoring well on April 22, 1991. The
following subsections address the completion of each of the project tasks.
3.1 SOIL BOREHOLE INSTALLATION AND SA.N1pLING
We prepared a work plan and obtained a permit for the installation of a monitoring
well from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. A copy of the
permit is included as Appendix A.
Drilling at the subject site was conducted on April 11, 1991. Spectrum Exploration,
Inc. of Stockton, California, was contracted to provide borehole and well installation
services under supervision of Ms. Robyn Seymour, Clayton Geologist.
All work was performed in accordance with San Joaquin County regulations as well as
Clayton's Drilling Well Construction and Sam ling Protocols; included as Appendix
;wl-Lrrp ' I
