Water samples collected at the site evidence contamination. Further
investigation of contamination in soil and water at this site is necessary.
The results of groundwater sample analysis indicate the presence of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX),
methyl tertiary butyl ether(MtBE), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether
(ETBE),tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), and tertiary-butanol (TBA).
The report recommends additional assessment of the lateral and vertical extent of
hydrocarbon-impacted soil north of the former UST area and in the area of
MW-1. Also, additional assessment of the lateral extent of impacted groundwater south
of the former UST area and north and west of well MW-1 and vertical assessment in the
MW-1 and MW-2 area. EHD agrees with these recommendations. EHD also
recommends a down-gradient well be installed, perhaps in the parking lot north of the
Freeway on-ramp. All groundwater monitoring sampling events should include
laboratory analyses for TPHg by EPA Method 8015M,BTEX by EPA Method 8020, and
for MTBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME, 1,2-DCA, EDB, ethanol and methanol by EPA Method
8260. Quarterly monitoring should continue until further direction from EHD.
Conduct a complete well survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any
other wells within a 2,000-foot radius of this site. Contact the Department of Water
Resources, municipal water suppliers, and any nearby industries for well information.
A review of EHD well permit records and a physical search of the area to identify any
wells should be performed. Identify all sources of information in the well survey report.
Clearly depict each well location as they relate to the above-referenced site and submit
any known construction details of the wells.
