(Orion) is pleased to submit this work plan on behalf of <br /> Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. (BFS) for the property located at 400 North EI Dorado Street in <br /> Stockton, California (Figure 1 ; the site). . This work plan is prepared in response to the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Division's (SJCEHD) fax to Orion dated 30 October <br /> 2001 requesting that BFS submit a brief work plan for the abandonment of the four <br /> monitoring wells (MW-1 , MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4; Figure 2) at the site. As indicated on <br /> your fax, a no further action letter'will be issued to BFS upon completion of the approved <br /> scope of work. <br /> A Monitoring Well Destruction application permit is submitted with this work plan. <br /> Processing of an Encroachment On Public Right-of-Way permit application is currently <br /> underway and will be forwarded to the SJCEHD upon final approval from the City of <br /> Stockton. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is the former location of an automobile gasoline station that operated during the <br /> 1920's and 1930's. Subsequently, the site was used as a retail ti re and'automobile service <br /> center. In 1967, four underground storage tanks (USTs) were closed in place by filling the <br /> tanks with sand. In 1991, one of these previously closed tanks was removed along with <br /> eleven other USTs previously located at the site. The remaining tanks closed in place <br /> include: Tank #1 and #3 (7,500-gallon capacity each) and Tank #2 (550-gallon capacity; <br /> Figure 2). <br /> [S:\B F5\Stockton\WKP\WKP004.docI 11/13/01 <br />
