R IO N
1.2 Objectives and Scope of Work
The objective of the planned site assessment activities are to delineate the nature and
extent of impacted groundwater at the site. Orion will drill and install three groundwater
monitoring wells and perform two groundwater monitoring events separated by three
Months to meet this objective. It is anticipated that these steps will demonstrate a low risk
'1 site based upon plume stability and previous work showing no significant receptor
+ impacts. The proposed scope of work will include the following tasks:
AI
❑ Mark monitoring well locations at the site and notify Underground Service
Alert (USA) to identify subsurface utilities
L
❑ Obtain encroachment and revocable permits plus financial security deposit
from the City of- Stockton for installation of two wells in sidewalk portions
of El Dorado Street
`. ❑ Obtain monitoring well permits from the SJCPHS-EHD
L
❑ Drill and install three groundwater monitoring wells to a depth of
approximately 35-40 feet below grade
❑ Perform two groundwater sampling events; one immediately following
installation and development of the wells and one in approximately three
months after well installation
❑ Analyze the groundwater samples at a State-certified laboratory for
❑ Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) using modified
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015
❑ BTEX and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) using EPA Method 8020
❑ Analyze soil samples for TPHg, BTEX and MTBE and dispose of the drilling
I residuals and well development and purge water
❑ Perform health and safety monitoring during field activities
❑ Evaluate groundwater monitoring data and prepare a report.
( 1 SABFS\STOCKTON\WKP041.DOC 10/27/99 1-2
1
