1 <br /> I1� I N <br /> • 2.0 GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION ACTIVITIES <br /> Orion's proposed field activities for the groundwater investigation are described in the <br /> following sections <br /> 2.1 Health and Safety <br />' A site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HSP) has been prepared for this investigation and is <br /> included as Appendix A The HSP presents procedures for personnel and equipment <br />' safety, medical surveillance, personal protection, air-quality monitoring, exposure control, <br /> emergency response procedures, and general work practices <br />' Before beginning work at the site a site safety meeting will be conducted Field <br /> g g Y g <br /> personnel will review the HSP and sign the accompanying acknowledgment form Field <br /> personnel will be required to comply with the HSP throughout performance of site <br /> assessment activities <br /> Based on the site history and potential chemicals of concern, field activities will be <br /> initiated in Level D personal protective equipment (PPE) During field activities, the <br /> breathing zone of field personnel will be monitored using a field photoionization device <br /> (PID) If breathing zone PID readings indicate elevated levels of organic vapors, PPE will <br /> be upgraded accordingly Breathing zone readings will be recorded on the boring logs <br /> 2.2 Monitoring Well Installation <br /> Before initiating drilling activities, Orion will mark the well location on site and contact <br /> Underground Service Alert to clear the area of subsurface lines and utilities Orion will <br /> also obtain a well permit from the SJCEHD <br /> S\8FS\STOCKTON\WKP003 DOC 03/22/01 2_' <br />
