C) RIIN
2.2.4 Groundwater Sampling I P g Procedures
The wells will be sampled 1 day after installation and development and again
Iapproximately three months after installation The depth to groundwater and total well
depth will be measured before sampling using an electric water well sounder
Approximately 3 to 5 casing volumes will be purged from the wells before sampling
Throughout purging and lust before sampling the wells, the pH, specific conductivity, and
temperature of the evacuated groundwater will be measured and recorded These
measurements will be made to confirm that the well is purged sufficiently Water samples
will be collected after the measurements stabilize to within 10 percent of the previous
readings A sample well purging and sampling log is provided in Appendix B
Sampling will be performed using either a 2-inch-diameter Teflon or disposable
polyethylene bailer suspended from a nylon line If Teflon bailers are used, they will be
decontaminated between each well using the procedures in Section 2 3 3 The bailers
will be equipped with a bottom-release device
Water samples will be collected from the wells in new bottles provided by the analytical
laboratory Water samples will be collected in 40-milliliter glass bottles with Teflon-lined
caps These samples will be collected so that no headspace is present in the bottle A
field (equipment) blank will be collected after decontamination of the sampling
equipment A field blank will not be collected if the wells are sampled using disposable
' bailers The samples will be shipped to and analyzed by a State-certified laboratory
following the analytical program described in Section 3 1
2.3 Field Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Procedures
Procedures are described below for preserving and transporting soil and groundwater
samples, decontaminating field equipment, managing wastes generated, and documenting
the field program
S\BFS\STOCKTON\WKP001 DOC 10/27/99 2-4
