19 January 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 11-2006
EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
Prior to sample collection, soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean water
after being washed with a solution of Alconox. Probing rods and drilling equipment were
thoroughly cleaned prior to soil probe boring advancement.
BORING ABANDONMENT
Soil borings were abandoned by backfilling with portland cement from the total depth to
surface grade. The surface at each location was completed with a cold asphalt patch.
GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY
On 21 December 2011, a geophysical survey was performed at the subject property by
NorCal Geophysical Consultants of Cotati, California. The survey was performed to help
verify the presence or absence of any former underground storage tanks at the
property. The survey was performed utilizing metal detection, electromagnetic line locating
and ground penetrating radar. The subject area was surveyed in a 4,900 square foot (70-
foot by 70-foot square) area surrounding boring B1, where field evidence of petroleum
hydrocarbons were previously encountered. A report of findings, which includes detailed
procedures and methodologies used to perform the survey has been included as Appendix
C.
FINDINGS
Soil stratigraphywas determined from field data. The petroleum hydrocarbon impactto soil,
soil-vapor and ground water was quantified by laboratory analysis.
Stratigraphy and Soil Analytical Results
In general, brown dry silty sands were encountered in borings B7 and B8 at 5 feet bsg.
Black to gray, dry and moist clay with variable plasticity was also encountered in both
borings at 10 and 30 feet bsg. Blue to gray silty sand and mottled fine to medium grained
sand was encountered in boring B7 and B8 at depths between 15 and 27 feet bsg; gray
moist to saturated, variable plasticity clays were encountered from 10 to 30 feet bsg in
boring B7 (Appendix B).
Advanced GeuEnvirunmental,Inc.
