' l J
I A -
05 April 1996
' AGE-NC Project No_ 95-0142
'AGE-NC
3 of 5
' One ground water sample was collected from MW-4 for analysis for total dissolved iron and
manganese, in preparation for corrective action at the site The sample was collected into a plastic
container with no preservative, and was transported under chain-of -custody to FGL Environmental
' (FGL) in Stockton, California The sample was analyzed in accordance with EPA method 200 7
' 3 3 COLLECTION OF PURGED WATER SAMPLES
' Two drums of purged water are present on-site At the request of Stockton Plating, one sample was
collected from each drum to characterize the purged water for disposal The samples were collected
using a disposable plastic bailer One 40-m1 VOA vial of water was collected from each drum The
'samples'were labeled and transported under chain-of-custody to MAI for analysis Each sample was
analyzed for TPH-g and BTE&X in accordance with EPA methods 5030/8015 and 602, respectively
4.0. FINDINGS
4 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND DIRECTION
The depth to ground water at the site ranged from 35 82 feet to 36 76 feet The data indicates an
average increase of ground water elevation of nearly three feet since December 1995 The ground
water flow direction has maintained the northeastern trend calculated from data collected during
previous sampling events The gradient becomes less steep east of the site and is directed due east
The relative elevation of ground water is illustrated on Figure 3 - Relative Ground Water Elevation
42 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in each well sampled at concentrations from 54 parts per billion (ppb, reported
as micrograms per liter, pgA ) in MW -4 to 120,000 ppb in VE -3 BTE&X were detected in samples
from MW -3 and VE -3 at, concentrations ranging from 1 5 ppb (toluene in MW -3) to 29,000 ppb
(toluene in VE -3)
MTBE was detected in the sample collected from MW -3 at 35 ppb MTBE was not detected in
samples collected from wells MW -4 or VE -3, however, the reporting limit for MTBE in VE -1 was
increased to 350 ppb due to matrix interferences Analytical results of the ground water samples are
summarized in Table 2 The laboratory report (MAI Laboratory I D Nos` 62334 through 62336)
and chain -of -custody are included in Appendix B
t
