06/24/2002 15 42 2094671118 AGE STOCKTON PAGE 03 <br /> • 31 Januaiy 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0128 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> 2 1 1 Soil Sampling <br /> Soil samples were collected from boring EW 1 at five-foot intervals,beginning at 30 feet bsg utiliaing <br /> a California split-spoon sampler loaded with 2-mch by 6-inch brass sleeves The sampler was driven <br /> by dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 Triches The number of blows requn ed to drive <br /> each 6-inch length of the sarnplei (blow counts) was reeoi ded on boring logs by an AGE staff <br /> geologist, boring logs are in Appendix.A. <br /> Soil samples were preserved by coveting both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br /> capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring designation, <br /> depth, time, date and sampler's initials <br /> The soil samples duplicates, from 30 feet to 45 feet bsg, were monitored for the presence of organic <br /> vapor using an organic vapor metes equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br /> )Envn onmental 580A, 10 0 eV,calibi atedto isobutylene) The soil samples were collected specifically <br /> for permeability analysis <br /> 2 1 2 Equipment Decontamination <br /> The hollow stem auger s were pi a-cleaned pi ioi to advancement of each soil pilot boring Sampliiig <br /> tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection were thoroughly washed with a solution of <br /> Aleonox, and were thoroughly rinsed with clean tap water pnoi to each sampling sequence All <br /> sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to each <br /> sampling run Following drilling activities, rinscat e generated fi om decontaminating the equipment <br /> was placed in properly labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and placed in the <br /> southeast portion of the site <br /> 2 2 WELL COMPLETION <br /> Borings EWI and EW-2 were smgle-completed as giound water extraction wells (EW-1 and EW-2) <br /> Utilizing schedule 40, 6-inch diameter blank polyvinylchloride (PVC) well casing and perforated, 6- <br /> inch diameter PVC well casing (0 020-inch slot) <br /> The wells was installed by placing the PVC well casing assembly through the hollow stem of the <br /> augers to the total depth of the boring The augei s wei a incrementally raised as filter pack material <br /> was slowly poured down the annulus between the well casing and the inner wall of the hollow stein <br /> auger The filter pack material placed consisted of a 50/50 blend of fine grained aquarium gravel(3/8 <br /> gavel) and 2/12 Monterey Sand The filtei pack was placed adjacent to the screened casing from the <br /> �� Advaarcd Ge*Euvur9wmcn41 Inc <br />
