A nominal
two-foot seal of bentonite pellets was placed above the filter pack and allowed to hydrate with clean
tap water The remaining annular space was backfilled with portland cement An as-built well-
construction diagram is included as Appendix A
2 3 WELL DEVELOPMENT
On 13 July 2001,wells EW-1 and EW-2 wei a developed utilizing a stainless steel hand bailer,4-inch
dxametei PVC hand bailei Approximately 60 gallons of ground water were purged from wells until
the ground watei produced was visually sediment free Purged ground water was collected from the
wells to a propei ly labeled DOT-apps oved model 17H 55-gallon drum and was stored at the site The
field log for well development activities is included in Appendix B
2 4 SOIL SAMPLE ANALYSIS
Three soil sample from the site was submitted foi geotechnical analysis The samples were
tiansported to Copper Testing Laboratory(CTL) of Mountain View, California and were analyzed
for porosity and permeability in accordance with ASTM Method D5084
3.0. GROUND WATER EXTRACTION TEST
On 18 October 2001,a twelve-hour aquifer pump test was pex formed at the site to assess the general
aquifer chaiactenstics and to assess aquifer response to ground water extraction at a constant
pumping i ate utilizing well FW-l for gi ourxd water extraction and wells EW-2, MW-3, MW-4,
MW-5,and MW-6 and vapor well VW-I to VW-4 as observation wells Two extracted ground water
samples were collected and purged gi ound watei was containerized in an on-site 6,500--gallon poly
tank(Baker tank)
3 1 AQUIFER TEST, 18 OCTOBER 2001
The ground water extraction test consisted of extracting ground water from well EW-1 at a rate of
5 gallons per mnute (GPM) Ground water was extracted from the upper water table, the depth to
ground watei was within the screened inter val of the extraction well
Advancdd GeoEnvlronmental Inc
