. 15 June 2004
AGE-NC Project No 95-0142
Page 9of12
32 SVE MASS OF RECOVERED HYDROCARBONS
The hydrocarbon mass (TPH-g) removed during the operating period was calculated using the
following equation M = C•Q•t
where M = cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C = soil-vapor concentration (kg/m')
Q = extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
The operational time was divided into three time periods Mass of hydrocarbons removed was based
on analysis of soil-vapor samples The mass of extracted hydrocarbons was calculated for each time
period using average hydrocarbon concentrations of influent soil-vapor sample data and average air
flow rates
Approximately 111 gallons of hydrocarbons as gasoline were extracted and destroyed from SVE
network at the site between December 2003 and March 2004 The volume/mass calculations are
attached in Appendix E
3 3 GROUND WATER TREATMENT RESULTS
Between 11 February and 11 March 2004, the pump-and-treat system was operational Utilizing a
Blue-White industries F-2000 flow meter, a total flow of 80,140 gallons (totalizer) was recorded
during the aforementioned period, a total of 231,216 gallons of water were extracted between 11
February and 11 April 2004 (Table 3) Based on approximately 80,140 gallons of discharged water
recorded on the meter, AGE estimated that approximately and average of 6,000 gallons of water
were discharged per day
3 3 1 Laboratory Analysis of Ground Water Samples
TPH-g and BTEX compounds and MTBE were detected in the influent samples from wells EW-1,
EW-2, EW-3, EW-4 and an influent sample The following is a summary of the detected
concentrations
11 February TPH-g was detected at 18,000 micrograms per liter(µgd), BTEX compounds
were detected at the following benzene at 3,400 µg/1, toluene at 2,000µg/1, ethyl benzene
at 350 µg/1, and xylenes at 1,100 µg/1 MTBE was detected at 72 µg/1
• 11 March Concentrations detected in the influent sample were as follows TPH-g was
Advanced Geo E nviron mental,Inc
