15 June 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0142 <br /> Page 4 of 12 <br /> 2 2 2 Installation of Underground Ground Water Extraction Pipeline Conduit <br /> Between 29 September and 01 November 2003,the underground ground water extraction piping was <br /> installed at the site A 150-foot long trench was excavated approximately 18-inches wide 24-inches <br /> deep using a backhoe equipped with an 18-inch bucket Excavated materials(asphalt and soil)were <br /> temporarily stockpiled adjacent to the trenches on site A map depicting the on-site trench system <br /> is depicted in Figure 3 <br /> A one-inch diameter PVC pipe was installed to extraction well EW-1 for ground water recovery An <br /> electrical conduit of 2-inch diameter ABS piping was installed to extraction well EW-1 for pump j <br /> control <br /> I <br /> A 2-inch diameter, ABS piping (conduit) was installed in the on-site trench at approximately 18- <br /> inches bsg A manifold piping system was utilized in the trench to connect the process piping system <br /> from each extraction well head to the ground water treatment system From the ground water <br /> extraction pump, tubing was routed through the individual conduits within the trench to the <br /> pneumatic controls for the treatment system Following placement of all tubing and conduits, the <br /> . trench was backfilled with the excavated soil to 4-inches bsg and compacted The trench was then <br /> resurfaced with with approximately 4-Inches of asphalt <br /> 2 2 3 Installation of Ground Water Extraction Pumps <br /> On 20 January 2004, four 1 5-mch diameter, stainless steel QED Environmental model H23SET <br /> pneumatic powered,down-well pumps were installed in vapor extraction wells VW-1,VW-2,VW-3 <br /> and VW-4 The pumps were internally equipped with a one-way check valve to prevent back-flow <br /> The pumps were installed in each well at a depth of approximately 45 feet bsg One-half inch <br /> diameter poly-vinyl chloride(PVC)tubing was routed from eachpump to the top of each well casing <br /> and through a 2-mch diameter sanitary well seal In the remediation area, a manifold was created <br /> with independent flow meters and a dedicated sampling port to allow sampling of each well <br /> independently without having to remove each respective well head assembly <br /> On 02 February 2004, a 4-inch diameter, stainless steel model 5S8 Grundfos Rediflow down-well <br /> pump equipped with 230 volt Y2-horsepower 3-wire motors were installed in ground water extraction <br /> well EW-1 The Grundfos pump was installed in well EW-1 at a depth of approximately 65 feet <br /> below surface grade (bsg) Schedule 40, 1-Inch diameter PVC tubing was routed from the pump to <br /> the top of the well casing and through a 4-inch diameter sanitary well seal In the remediation area, <br /> an Independent flow meter and a sampling port was installed to allow sampling of the well without <br /> having to remove the well head assembly <br /> Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
