'5 Mav 200'
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0426
Paac 3 of 6
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Ground water sample collection and analvsis;
• Calculation of the remaining hydrocarbons mass in soil and modeling of the `round water
plume migration; and
• Report preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EI-ID. Prior to mobilization,each
proposed soil probe boring location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through
Underground Service Alert.
As required by PHS-EHD permitting, an updated health and safety plan is included in accordance
with Occupational Safetv and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities
(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance three soil probe borings, one at the former UST location, one to the
northwest and one to the south of the former UST location to assess the lateral and vertical extent
of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted groundwater at the site. Proposed probe boring locations are
illustrated in Figure 2.
The soil probe borings will be advanced to an estimated depth of between 50 and 60 feet bsg to
assess the vertical extent of impacted soil and ground water. Total depths of the probe borin4gs will
be based on field observations and field screening using an organic vapor monitor(OVM).
Soil samples will be collected from two of the probe borings (B-8 and B-9) at five-foot intervals
from ground surface to the total depth. Field procedures for advancement of probe borings and
collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4.1 and Section 4.2, respectively.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-
certified laboratory for:
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal,Inc.
