w
f
1
I20 June 2001
• AGE-NC Project No 98-0426
Page 2 of 4 _
r. t
container and transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI) The
' samples were analyzed for the following
•` Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Methods 5030/8015-modified, x
• Volatile aromatic compounds,- benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) and
Imethyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
• Fuel oxygenates - MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),
' tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260 Modified
' 3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water flow direction and gradient were inferred from data collected In the field, the
hydrocarbon impact to ground water was quantified by the laboratory data obtained from the ground
. water samples
3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The relative elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed relative casing elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from
21 30 feet to 22 38 feet as measured from the top of the well casings Relative ground water
elevations at the site ranged from 77 62 feet in MW1, to 77 72 feet in MW2 The relative ground
' water elevation at the site increased an average of 0 5 feet between the February 2001 and May 2001
monitoring events Ground water was within the screened intervals in all three wells The ground
water gradient was calculated to be 0 0033 fl/ft with anortheasterly flow direction The ground water
' elevation contours are depicted on Figure 2 _
,r
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of
' 870 µg/1 and 390 gg/l, respectively
' Benzene and toluene were detected only in the ground water sample from MW-3 (16 µg/1 and 0 76
}ig/l, respectively) Ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in MW2 and MW3 at concentrations
as high as 17 tLg/l and'29 pg/l, respectively
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1 1
